Til The Storm Passes By

“Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand
Keep me safe till the storm passes by”

It’s still hard to reconcile the fact that my Daddy is gone. I still see him in the simplest of things. I still feel his presence, even though he’s no longer here. I still hear his voice calling out to me. Sometimes I look for him even though I know he can’t be found.

This is the fiercest storm I’ve ever tried to navigate. I feel battered and beaten down. I’m tired in my body and my emotions, but I know this storm will pass and strength will return.

I grew up singing this old song “Til The Storm Passes By”.  The writer was crying out to God to keep him safe in the midst of his greatest storm. To hold him and protect him until the winds and the rain ceased. I feel the winds and the rain in my storm calming . But I’m guessing a slight breeze and a few sprinkles of rain will stay with me for a little while longer. I know there is peace after the storm. Actually, there’s been more peace in it than I expected, and I’m sure the peaceful moments will overtake the painful one’s. Until then, I’m trying to remember all the good and all the love because that’s calming my storm.

  1. One of my favorite songs. My oldest son had an immense fear of storms as a 10-12 year old and we would sing this song often. Funny how it applies to so many different areas of your life as time goes by. Continued prayers for your family, friend.
