You lie there,
but you can’t sleep.
Your mind races with thoughts
of failure and worthlessness.
Nothing is working out
as you planned.
You think of giving up
or ending your journey.
Visions of becoming the dust
that blows away with the wind.
You want to move forward
but you can’t face the pain.
Your vision is blurred
with darkness.
Sadness grips the very
breath in your chest.
You want to escape
but you see no release.
You want to hold on
but you want to be free.
Then you finally fall asleep.
Tomorrow is a new day.
This is sad but a very good reminder of how important sleep really is to us.
