Smile
“Smile” is one of my favorite songs. My favorite version is the one sung by Michael Jackson. The words, for me, bring healing in the times when I’m just not sure there’s a reason to smile… moments of despair because of something I’m going through or something I’ve lost or for hopeless feelings about the future. Somehow it always finds me in my lowest places. Usually, by the second time through, I’m lifted from my despair and somehow I’m encouraged. We all face things that steal the smile off our faces and rip our hearts out of our chest, but if we can learn to see the sunshine even on cloudy days, we’ll begin to see that life is worthwhile. We just have to Smile.
“Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
you’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through
for you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you’ll just
Smile” *
I’m writing these days as much for me as anything. I’m learning to take my own advice. I want you to be encouraged when you read my posts. Strangely, I’m starting to be encouraged by my own words. I hope you can be too. Blessings, Love, and Peace to you all. 🙂
