One of Life’s Truest Treasures

Sometimes I find myself thinking of memories past, most with a fondness and appreciation that I’m very grateful for. My life, thus far, has been one some could only dream of. Sure there have been bumps in the road and struggles from time to time, but generally I’m a man most blessed. I was given a family that loves me unconditionally. They have made more sacrifices on my behalf than I could count. I’ve had good friends most of my life, some great ones in fact, especially the last couple of decades. I’m not sure what I would have done without one in particular.

Sometimes in our search for fame, fortune, or fulfillment, we fail to appreciate one of life’s truest treasures… people. I don’t believe in coincidences; I believe people are placed in our path for any number of reasons. We may not always understand what the reason is this side of heaven, but one day, I believe we will.

Give your best to the people you have in your life right now. We can’t always go back and redo our past. The future isn’t here yet. So, today is where our focus should remain. Love unconditionally. Believe in people. Help those you can. Pray for those you can’t. Make lasting impressions that have the power to endure a lifetime and beyond.

I’ve lost a lot of people in the course of my life, many by way of the grave. I think of them often and can only imagine the greeting I’ll receive when I reach heaven. Some relationships, I’ve lost by choice, both mine and their’s. I believe one day even the hardest separations will be reconciled. I may not have the opportunity to see it in this lifetime, but, one day.

The bible says tomorrow is promised to no one. Try and make today the best you can. Be grateful, be hopeful. Cherish the people and opportunities given to you. Love always.

Albert E. Brumley wrote- “Soon we’ll come to the end of life’s journey
And perhaps we’ll never meet any more
Till we gather in Heaven’s bright city
Far away on that beautiful shore
If we never meet again this side of Heaven
As we struggle through this world and its strife
There’s another meeting place somewhere in Heaven
By the side of the river of life.
Where the charming roses bloom forever
And where separations come no more
If we never meet again this side of Heaven
I will meet you on that beautiful shore”

May his words and mine remind you to live your life everyday with love as your foundation and function.
