Reflections in Mirrors and Pools
Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear. – George Addair
We all have things we struggle with, and the cares of this world can be overwhelming at times. We need to look in the mirror and encourage the person looking back at us. Give them a break, but at the same time challenge them to go higher, to be better. Have faith in that person, and believe with them that they can push through the fear and the pain, past the reflection to obtain the destination they are destined to reach.
Sometimes doing the uncomfortable thing is the very thing that can launch you into your destiny. And if you do the hard thing long enough, maybe in time it won’t be hard anymore. Whatever that uncomfortableness is for you, I encourage you to press through what is seen on the surface, and trust that on the other side of it will be the very thing you’re looking for.
As a child, I was afraid of the water. I’d stay in the shallow end of the pool or on the banks of the lake because my fear was that somehow I wouldn’t make it if I got in over my head. One day I took a chance and just dove right in and finally felt a freedom I never knew existed. Beneath the surface was the joy of swimming in a whole other world I would never have known if I hadn’t gone deeper past the reflection on top of the water. Take a chance on the unknown. Take a breath, and dive into the deep end. You can’t know if you don’t try.
Believe in yourself, and know others are cheering for you. We may not know each other, but I believe in you. I believe we all can do great things if we can simply begin or perhaps find again the power to believe in ourselves.
“I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change” – Michael Jackson
