What I’m Afraid To Say

A year ago, I probably would have written this differently.

I spent a lot of my life trying to make sure everyone around me was comfortable. I softened my words. I kept parts of myself hidden. I stayed quiet about things that mattered because I didn’t want to disappoint people or risk losing them.

It seemed like the safer choice.

It wasn’t.

Pretending to be someone you’re not has a way of wearing down your spirit. Not all at once, but slowly. Quietly. Until one day you realize you’ve become a stranger to yourself.

I’ve reached a place where I’d rather be honest than carefully edited.

That doesn’t mean I believe I have all the answers. I don’t.

It doesn’t mean I want to argue or convince anyone to see the world the way I do.

It simply means I’m going to write what I believe, what I’ve lived, and what I’m still learning.

Some people will agree.

Some won’t.

Both are okay.

I’ve learned that disagreement doesn’t have to end a relationship. It doesn’t have to become a battle. We can see the world differently and still treat each other with kindness. At least, I hope we can.

There are still things I’m afraid to say.

There are still parts of me that hesitate before pressing “Publish.”

That fear probably won’t disappear overnight.

But I’ve discovered something.

Honesty is a lighter burden than pretending.

So if my words resonate with you, I’m thankful you’re here.

If they don’t, I genuinely wish you well.

Because this space was never meant to be about winning arguments.

It has always been about telling the truth as I understand it… imperfectly, humbly, and with an open heart.

For the first time in a very long time, that feels like enough.
